Jay County Community Development was formed in 2000 as a partner to Jay County Development Corporation. Since that time, Jay County Community Development has brought millions of grant dollars into the Jay County community. Along with grant services, Jay County Community Development participates in many committees and activities in the community such as Portland Historic Preservation Commission, Portland Economic Development Corporation, Dunkirk Improvement Committee, Portland Rotary Club, Jay Community Center Board of Directors, LifeStream Services Board of Directors, Women’s Giving Circle though the Portland Foundation, and the Jay County Chamber of Commerce Board.
A variety of partnerships are offered in the Jay County Community Development Office, such as Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) Grant Writing and Administration assistance to the Jay County Communities, Small Business assistance and referral, Indiana Housing and Community Development Association Projects (IHCDA), and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). Another service provided by Jay County Community Development is the review of grant proposals before submission for any applications being submitted by a Jay County business or not for profit organization.
